The Ministry of Industry encourages halal industrial areas (KIH) in Indonesia to be filled immediately and operate optimally in providing economic benefits for the community and the nation according to the direction of the Vice President, K.H. Ma’ruf Amin.
“The presence of the 148-hectare Halal Industrial Areas (KIH) in Sidoarjo, which is equipped with supporting facilities and infrastructure for the halal product process, is expected to strengthen the entire halal value chain from upstream to downstream sectors in order to develop the potential of halal products in Indonesia, especially in East Java, in meeting the needs of the domestic and global markets,” said Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, in his statement in Jakarta, Friday.

The Minister of Industry conveyed this after accompanying the Vice President together with the Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Teten Masduki, the Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa, and the Regent of Sidoarjo, Ahmad Muhdor Ali, to review the construction of KIH in Sidoarjo, East Java.
The three halal industries that are encouraged to be filled and optimized are Modern Halal Valley, Halal Industrial Park Sidoarjo, and Bintan Inti Halal Hub.
The Minister of Industry stated that to encourage the considerable potential in the halal industry, collaboration between ministries and regional institutions is needed to strengthen the halal industry ecosystem.
“The availability of complete and integrated facilities and infrastructure will increase investment interest in KIH because it competes with KIH in neighboring countries,” he said.
Therefore, Agus continued, the Ministry of Industry continues to make efforts to encourage the development of KIH and halal hubs in the regions in order to form a strong and even halal industrial ecosystem throughout Indonesia. This can be done because it obtains cooperation and support from other parties.
